Stuart Moyes is an award-winning multimedia journalist and content creator with a broad skill-set across print, audio, video and digital platforms. With experience in various newsrooms, he brings a strong command of storytelling and communication to every project.

A recent graduate of the MA Journalism programme at Edinburgh Napier University, Stuart received training in news writing, radio and TV production, magazine publishing and media law. For his major project, he developed Democratia, a multimedia website exploring the state of global democracy and underreported 2024 elections.

In addition to his academic work, Stuart produced and hosted Globe Unpacked, an international affairs podcast that earned him the 'Best Use of Multimedia' award at The Herald 2024 Student Press Awards. He has also volunteered as a content creator for Edinburgh-based charity Vintage Vibes.

Moldova: A Nation at a Crossroads

On 20th October 2024, Moldova voted for their next president for the next four years and on membership into the European Union.

Stuart travelled to Chișinău, Moldova’s capital city, to produce a short documentary on the stakes and challenges of the then-upcoming votes as the country found itself caught in a tug-of-war between Russia and the EU and feeling the heat of the Ukraine War from across its eastern border.

2024: The International Elections So Far

While we are acutely aware of the domestic election that has heralded a new political age for the United Kingdom, as well as the continent-wide EU elections that saw a sweep of the far-right into European Parliament, there are many elections across the globe – from the distant to the under-covered – that you may have missed.

Produced as part of the international elections multimedia website Democratia, Democratia Radio is a short-form podcast including interviews and analysis. This episode investigated whether or not Britain avoided the surge of global populism that much of the world saw in 2024.
